GamerDNA Acquires 360voice to Grow Gaming Platform
GamerDNA just received $3 million in funding in order to grow its social interaction capabilities for MMPORGs, and just a week later, GamerDNA is taking steps towards this goal. In acquiring 360voice’s parent company It Can Talk, GamerDNA is gaining an integral networking tool that’s designed to work with Xbox games.
As an early entrant into the Microsoft XCDP (Xbox Community Developers Program), 360voice has had a good deal of experience in making third-party applications for Xbox gamers. Most notable is 360voice’s autoblog feature, which lets Xbox owners to publish their activity and challenge other players in competitions for real prizes.
While the financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, it’s clear that GamerDNA is growing its platform approach, in a manner similar to what we’ve seen from SGN and others. Integrating 360voice technology into GamerDNA’s larger platform will enable an auto-logged gaming history that can be applied to several applications outside of 360voice itself.
The acquisition of It Can Talk marks the second for GamerDNA in the past 3 years, having already acquired Uberguilds, which is a network of popular MMORPG community websites. With a funding infusion, however, GamerDNA will be able to focus further on its distributed platform strategy.
