KateModern Team Creates Series For MySpace

The team behind the popular KateModern series has been contracted by MySpace to launch a new series named, I Love Chieftown.
Set in east London, the new drama will follow the story of an aspiring filmmaker who is herself following a band trying to make it big. According to Chris Albrecht of NewTeeVee, the series will have sixty episodes that run 4- to 5-minutes each, and they are expected to start showing in September.
With the success of KateModern, which averages approximately 300,000 viewers per episode, making it one of the most viewed Web television series, it will be interesting to see how much MySpace will budget for the production. On average, webisodes cost around $1,000 per minute, but with the KateModern folks being proven content producers, MySpace is sure to want to make a splash with their initial launch, so they may get a significantly larger budget than normal to help market it especially strongly. Though of course originality is once crucial piece to the puzzle.
