My Life of Travel is Now a “Real” Site

My Life of Travel started out as a personal side project for Calan Horsman back in 2005, but has demanded more as the site began to grow organically. Nearly three years later, My Life of Travel has gained almost 20,000 users, with tens of thousands of entries created, and half a million images uploaded. As a result, Horsman has needed to put a bit more effort into his growing site, and has relaunched its as an officially public offering today.

Just as its name suggests, My Life of Travel is comprised of individual travel blogs that allow users to post journal entries, images, and videos around their various trips. You can seek out travel buddies, or merely share your experiences with the community.

One neat feature on My Life of Travel is the animated travel map, which shows your journey for a particular trip on a moving Google Map, displaying the images and details for each stop along the way. I think this animated map would make for a fun widget, especially as more interactive features are layered into the map.

Otherwise, My Life of Travel doesn’t have many features that help it stand out in this extremely crowded space. Nevertheless, My Life of Travel has a substantial foundation, meaning any goals for furthered growth are off to a good start.
