TripTouch Launches Widget For Start Pages

TripTouch

This week, TripTouch, a travel mashup which Mashable associated editor Paul Glazowski first covered a few months ago, launched a new widget for a couple of popular start pages that allows users quick access to the service.

Once you add this to your page, either on iGoogle and Netvibes, it will locate you position, and if any information is available, you’ll then be able to use it as a sort of travel guide for your area. Data like upcoming events, accommodations, and transport, and even what other TripTouch users are currently in your area can be found. You can then choose to change to other cities in your area. (Oddly you can’t change regions. For instance, I’m in Missouri, but I can only see other cities in my state, and not anywhere else. I would imagine such a simple fix will come about down the road, but for now it seems a bit strange that you are so limited. It is still useful to see what is going on around you, however.)

As we mentioned aove, the TripTouch widget, built on the Netvibes UWA, currently works with iGoogle and NetVibes.

UPDATE: We have no clue what caused the glitch when we tested this, but you can indeed change the state to look at other cities. For some reason I had to change countries, and by the third country, I finally got region selection, went back to the United States as a country, and then I was able to change states. No clue what caused this oddness, but it did finally work for us.
