Zoho Sheet Updated With Macros & Pivot Tables

zoho sheet

In their usual busy fashion, the folks at Zoho have updated their online spreadsheet application, Zoho Sheet, with a number of smaller and some big updates. The two interesting ones are macros and pivot tables. As many advanced Office users know, macros are a very powerful tool, one of those things that makes pros go “meh” at the mention of a web application.

Now, for the first time a web app supports Visual Basic macros, which means that your existing macros will work in Zoho. This really is, as Zoho puts it, an “important milestone“, although I doubt many users - who are probably using Zoho’s application for some lightweight work - will actually use them in practice. See an overview of the new macro functionality in the video below.

The other important update is support for pivot tables, which already work in Zoho DB. Now you can import a CSV file into Zoho Sheet (up to 100,000 rows big) or you can create pivot tables and charts via a simple drag and drop interface. Again, for an in-depth overview of this functionality check out the video above.

A full list of updates to Zoho Sheet, which include sharing spreadsheets to groups, support for very large spreadsheets (100,000 rows), several new languages, and multiline support, can be found here.
